Village Services - Finance

The Village of La Grange Finance Department is the recipient of the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for fiscal years 1995-96 through 2002-03. In order to qualify for this award the Village's budget document was judged to be proficient in several categories including policy documentation, financial planning and organization.

In addition, the Finance Department is the recipient of the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for fiscal years 1996-97 through 2001-02. In order to receive this prestigious award, a municipality must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized comprehensive annual financial report. This report must satisfy both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements.

The Finance Department is responsible for the Village's revenues - taxes, fees, bills and all other monetary concerns.

This department safeguards Village assets through adherence to sound financial management practices and procedures, and provides the public, Village Board and staff with the financial analysis needed to develop appropriate policies.

  • Prepares, issues and administers the annual budget.

  • Tracks all Village revenues to insure both accuracy and safety.

  • Handles all billing matters, including water, licenses, Village stickers, special assessments & parking decals.

Resident Licenses

Vehicle and Animal Licenses - General Information

  • Vehicle and animal licenses are mailed out in late February of each year and due on April 30th.
  • Licenses are available for purchase from March 1st through April 30th at Village Hall, 53 S. La Grange Road. Normal office hours are Monday-Friday 8:30a.m. to 5:00 p.m..
  • Please contact the Finance Department for extended hours in late April for the sale of vehicle licenses
  • A penalty equal to the original fee will be assessed after April 30th. Please note there is no grace period. If you do not receive a renewal form by the middle of March, please call and a form will be mailed.
  • The phone number for Village Hall is 579-2300.
    Residents are still responsible for the purchase of vehicle and animal licenses, whether or not a renewal form is received in the mail.

Animal Licensing

  • The annual animal license fee is $10.00.
  • All dogs and cats must be leashed and licensed.
  • Animals found running at large are subject to impoundment at the animal shelter and will result in additional fines and fees to the owner and shots for the animal if proof of vaccination cannot be determined.
  • Required information to purchase an animal license include: owner(s) name, address and telephone number, pet(s) name, breed, color, sex, rabies number and rabies expiration date.

Vehicle Stickers

  • Required information to purchase a vehicle sticker include:
    name, address, license plate number, year, make, model and color of vehicle.
    (Vehicle identification number not necessary)

  • Local ordinance requires that all vehicles housed or registered at a La Grange address must display a La Grange vehicle sticker. All fees are non-refundable.
  • Vehicle stickers should be displayed on the lower right hand corner of the front windshield.
  • Senior Citizens (65 and over by April 30th) may either apply in person with a valid drivers license or send a photocopy of the drivers license with the application.
    Only one vehicle per household will qualify for the reduced rate.
  • A licensee may transfer a vehicle sticker from the vehicle originally licensed to another vehicle purchased in the same year by purchasing a transfer sticker for $1.00. The portion of the old sticker indicating the number and the old receipt should be presented.
