| Village of La Grange Special Events
La Grange has several annual and weekly events which draw many, many people to the Village.
The Pet Parade, held the first Saturday after the Memorial Day weekend,
is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. This annual event,
held for over 50 years, is famous world-wide. Over 10,000
people attend the parade. In conjunction with the Pet Parade,
the LaGrange Business Association conducts the "Experience
La Grange Weekend". This event runs throughout the weekend
and offers carnival rides catering to children, food and
beverage vendors and various games of skill and chance.
The Chamber of Commerce also sponsors a weekly Farmer's
Market on Thursdays from June to October. Fresh produce,
baked goods and flowers are available from local and area
farmers. This weekly event is held in the parking lot just
south of Village Hall in the downtown area and is very popular
with residents from La Grange and neighboring communities.
Each July, the La Grange Business Association (LGBA) sponsors
an Arts and Craft Show in the Central Business District.
This event attracts over 250 crafters and 15,000 customers.
The LGBA also conducts the West End Arts Festival
located at the Stone Avenue train station in the west end
of La Grange. The festival, held in September, offers artwork
from over 150 artists and exhibitors as well as several
food vendors.
The October Halloween Walk, sponsored by the LGBA,
draws 1,500 young children and their parents. Local businesses
distribute Halloween treats to the witches, ghosts and goblins
as they walk through the downtown area.
An annual Christmas Walk is held in December and
features carolers, costumed Dickens characters, horse-drawn
carriages and vendors. Local merchants invite patrons to
shop their stores and enjoy holiday treats and hot beverages.
These holiday activities are sponsored by the LGBA and the
Village of La Grange.
