"Spring Clean Up" Day will be Held the Week of April 6, 2020

La Grange

This year’s "Spring Clean-Up" will be held the week of April 6, 2020, on your regular refuse collection day. Collection will be as follows:

Resident’s north of 47th Street - Monday, April 6, 2020

Resident’s south of 47th Street - Thursday, April 9, 2020

The "Spring Clean - Up" day gives residents the opportunity on one day to set out an unlimited amount of household refuse. Residents are required to affix three refuse stickers in total to the waste set out for collection. "Spring Clean-Up" is a one time pick-up.  Unfortunately, if you miss your scheduled clean-up day it cannot be rescheduled.

The Village recognizes that in the past some residents and others have used the “Spring Clean Up” day as a way to salvage items.  However given the Governor’s stay at home order as a result of COVID-19, we ask that residents do not participate in salvaging items put out for refuse pickup this year.  Please continue to practice social distancing and other recommended safety measures at all times.  For more information regarding the Village’s response to COVID-19, please visit the Village’s website.

On your regular collection day, Republic Services will collect large and miscellaneous items from single and two-family residences at the curb with three refuse stickers such as:

EXAMPLES OF ACCEPTABLE ITEMS:

  • Appliances
  • Bulk items (bicycles, fans, etc.)
  • Carpet (must be cut down to 4 feet in length, securely bundled, and more than 30 lbs. in weight).
  • Furniture
  • Couches
  • Chairs

Acceptable items are to be placed next to your regular refuse at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on collection day. Items other than furniture, large bulk items and appliances must be placed in bags, cans and/or boxes not to exceed 50 lbs each.

EXAMPLES OF UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS:

  • Electronics
  • Construction and/or demolition debris
  • Scrap wood and lumber
  • Paint
  • Concrete, asphalt, rocks, bricks
  • Car parts
  • Tires
  • Batteries
  • Any type of fluid
  • Ammunition
  • Hazardous or medical waste
  • Radioactive Materials
  • Yard Waste
  • Fencing
  • Railroad ties

Yard Waste is NOT included in the "Spring Clean Up", but will be collected if properly prepared, and set out with the correct amount of stickers on your regular collection day.
