Earth Day is April 22 and to celebrate, the Village of La Grange and the La Grange Environmental Quality Commission invite you to participate in a scavenger hunt to find ways that La Grange is going green!
The scavenger hunt (PDF) is available as a fillable form, or it can be printed out – select the two-sided option to print the eco-facts on the back. Find as many of the items as you can and bring your results to Denning Park (4903 Willow Springs Road) on Sunday, April 18, between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
The first 50 people will receive an oak tree sapling to plant in their yard, courtesy of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District. Fun facts and care tips for the oak tree sapling can be found here (link).
The Park District of La Grange will be sharing information about its upcoming Park Pride event and you will be able to take a photo to show your support for Earth Day.
All participants are required to wear appropriate face coverings and maintain distance in accordance with COVID-19 safety procedures.
To assist residents seeking to protect the environment every day in La Grange, the Environmental Quality Commission also offers seasonal tips. Please visit the Village website at www.lagrangeil.gov for spring Tips for Green Living (PDF).
A number of residential energy efficiency and assistance programs are also available to help reduce and manage energy consumption in your home. Programs include free water saving and weatherization kits, rebates for air sealing and insulation, energy efficient equipment, appliance and thermostat rebates, and free home energy assessments.
