The Village is pleased to announce that the next phase of the Stone Avenue Train Station Renovation Project has started. The project is intended to improve connectivity and accessibility near and to the Stone Avenue Train Station. The specific scope of work includes:
- Improved pedestrian interconnectivity between platforms, train station, Burlington Avenue, Brainard Avenue and Hillgrove Avenue;
- Removing the drop off area on Hillgrove Avenue and replacing it with diagonal parking; and
- Increased bicycle parking on both sides of the tracks.
The project is being funded through a combination of sources including the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Program, West Suburban Mass Transit District, Metra, and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA). The estimated construction budget for this project is $1.4M and is anticipated to be completed in November, 2018.
